The Seven Summits of Saalbach-Hinterglemm

A huge challenge awaits fit, surefooted and experienced mountaineers: the Seven Summits of Saalbach-Hinterglemm. This nearly 24-kilometre-long mountain tour across the highest summits in the Glemm Valley offers alpine character and an impressive 2,000 metres of elevation gain. This tour is for tough individuals and physically fit alpinists.

Take the Schattberg Xpress to the start of the Seven Summits tour. The marked route leads over the Stemmerkogel and Hochkogel and takes you to the most technically challenging ascent on the Hochsaalbachkogel. Continue over the Bärensteigkogel, Manlitzkogel and Mittagskogel to the final highlight and the Glemm Valley's highest mountain, the Geißstein which racks up an amazing 2,363 metres.

Be sure to save yourself for the difficult descent via the Birgel into the end of the valley. There are no alpine chalets which serve food and drink along this route, so good planning is essential. Hikers should only take this tour when they have the right equipment, enough food and water in their rucksack, and a tour plan which takes the weather into account and which includes options for early descents.

It's a wonderful feeling to rest your tired legs in the Ellmauhof spa after this hard core tour – get ready for the next hike!

You can only experience your summer holiday with the most beautiful view in Salzburger Land. Discover numerous routes and peaks around the Hotel Ellmauhof and send us your enquiry or booking for your stay.

The high-tech treasure hunt has come to Saalbach Hinterglemm

Experience a different kind of hiking thanks to geocaching. No idea what that is? Here are the most important facts: a geocacher hides a box with things to trade and a log book in an interesting place. Then he or she publishes the GPS coordinates online. Using these coordinates, anyone can search for the box, trade an item, enter themselves into the log book and become a geocacher themselves..

The unforgettable panoramic view, which reaches from the Hohe Tauern into the Leogang Steinbergen mountains, accompanies geocachers on their journey through the Glemm Valley's mountains. Where skiing and snowboarding fans feel at home in winter is where 450 km of marked hiking trails lead hikers to the caches in summer.

Four cable cars bring JOKER CARD holders a bit closer to their prize for free. The JOKER CARD is included during your stay at the Ellmauhof and gives you free use of the cable cars and other popular attractions nearby (limited to the opening period of the mountain railways Saalbach Hinterglemm). Around 30 alpine chalets will treat you not only to great food, but you can also log in at some of them.
